CoinSwitch Ventures, the investment business associated with crypto platform CoinSwitch, has rebranded as BlackLane Capital. The change introduces a broader investment strategy focused on early-stage technology companies across global markets.
The firm plans to invest up to $5 million per startup, widening its focus to fintech, enterprise infrastructure, consumer applications and digital assets. Web3 will remain part of its investment strategy as the business expands into additional sectors.
BlackLane Capital aims to help facilitate more than $100 million in startup funding over the next five years, combining its own investments with support from its network of investors, founders and strategic partners. This is a funding ambition involving the wider network, rather than an announcement that the firm has raised a new $100 million fund.
Established in 2022, CoinSwitch Ventures initially concentrated on Web3, blockchain and token projects. It has backed more than 26 startups, including Stan, Deconflict, Yousend and Uniblock. The new identity builds on that portfolio while opening the investment platform to a wider range of businesses.
Explaining the shift, CoinSwitch co-founder Ashish Singhal said the firmβs experience had reinforced its belief that strong businesses can emerge across sectors. His investment approach emphasises founders who understand their customers, solve meaningful problems, build capable teams and execute consistently.
The broader strategy gives BlackLane Capital more flexibility to evaluate companies whose opportunities extend beyond its original crypto focus.
Alongside capital, the firm plans to help portfolio companies with product strategy, partnerships and subsequent fundraising. It will draw on the wider PeepalCo ecosystem for operating experience, industry relationships and investor connections.
BlackLane is particularly interested in businesses that can serve large markets and expand across countries.
Investment head Pratyush Shah said the firm is seeing more founders build for international markets from the outset, with AI helping reduce some barriers to developing and scaling technology businesses.
For early-stage founders, the rebranding broadens the sectors BlackLane Capital is prepared to consider while retaining its focus on companies with international growth potential.
